Background and Experience
Rachel is a credentialed Mental Health Nurse who also holds a Master of Advanced Nursing (Leadership and Management), Post Graduate Diploma (Mental Health), a Graduate Diploma in Psychology and Narrative Therapy. She brings over 25 years of experience working in child and adolescent mental health care. With a passion for supporting children and families to better understand their difficulties and build emotional and relational skills. Rachel specialises in providing evidence-based interventions for a range of mental health and neurodevelopmental conditions, including but not limited to, anxiety, depression, OCD, ADHD, autism, eating disorders and the impact of trauma (such as bullying). In addition, she also provides a structured approach in helping parents develop parenting resilience and grief acceptance regarding their child's challenges.
Rachel is known for her compassionate, playful approach and ability to provide a safe, supportive environment to enable her clients and carers to develop thinking and self-regulation skills to enable them to better manage the little and big problems in life. She has become increasingly committed to understanding how neurodiverse differences are perceived and impact children and young people, developmental trauma informed approaches to mental health care, self-regulation, and parental and workforce professional resiliency. She now also assists those working in emergency services and healthcare to prevent and manage burnout, secondary traumatic stress using a contemporary evidence-based approach.
