Background and Experience
Andrew Norman is an expert in accessibility and strives to identify practical ways of making IT services available to all. He currently holds a position at the University of Melbourne as a Web Accessibility Programs Lead, where he is responsible for developing accessibility policies and practices, establishing procurement guidelines, auditing software systems, providing advice to researchers and academics, responding to user complaints and providing accessibility training. In his role he has notably developed an organisation-wide web accessibility strategy, established programs and provided one-on-one assistance and training for students and staff with disabilities.
Assistive Technology Service Support
At CAN Group, practitioners have identified that some clients would benefit from assistive technologies.
The Assistive Technology Service includes meeting with clients and their families to:

better understand their current use of Information Technology;

find out what assistive technologies they have tried previously;

demonstrate a range of assistive technologies, such as text to speech and speech to text;

provide one-on-one training and advice in the use of assistive;

provide patients with additional resources with which to learn about assistive technologies;

provide a report to practitioners on the patients technology use and recommended technologies.
